1/72 Corgi AA34304 Focke-Wulf Fw 190A, II/JG 2 "Richthofen", Adolf Dickfield North Africa, 1943
Another Corgi 190 and in a plain camo scheme. Quite a contrast to the usual mottle and perhaps boring
Corgi 190 models are good and this is another typical example. Only annoying thing is the landing gear needs white glue to stop it collapsing. Parts are included for gear up with an earlier type of stand. No ordnance with the model.
Probably a model for anyone building a collection of 190 or Lufty birds. Limited edition of 4100 but plenty available on ebay and at low prices.
Proof the photo shoot doesn't always go right. Gear collapsed at the moment the shot was taken
Out of interest what do people think of this old style stand? I actually think on the smaller models it's less noticeable and less overpowering compaied to the current style. Is there a reason they stopped making them like this?
And just class the last photo as an action shot. I bet you can't reproduce it for your next review 🤔😄
Although a simple scheme (and massively overproduced - or should that be hopefully produced in large numbers) it is a good simple and very accurate scheme for one of the more famous North African Lufty Aces. Desert schemes are not for everyone but if you like them then this is a bit of a must have. As indicated one of the advantages of the high production run is that these can still be picked up for reasonable prices. As for the early stands they look ok but I found the fit of the stand to the base was often overly loose and as such tend to prefer the more sturdy later versions. Great review Eagle Flyer of a much under rated model.

I’m a sucker for consistency and as all my Corgi planes have the current silver stands I don’t want to introduce another style into my collection. I had to make an exception for HobbyMaster stands. On a personal opinion, I think the transparent plastic bases of the old Corgi stands look a bit cheap mixing it with the silver arm. I think all transparent or all silver like the current style works best.
