Received my first Storch FM FA724001 Erwin Rommel's plane. Nicely done except for the left side wing strut was hanging down. Being a little to forceful I tried to fit the strut peg back into fuselage and ended up breaking the strut. Even checked with a online shop who had some left all his had same issues. Question is are they all screwed up from factory or is there some decent ones out there and are the later releases of the FM Storches the same way? I have the "Gran Sasso" FA724005 one on the way with fingers crossed it will be fine.
I have FA724005 and it has the same issue, except that on mine it's the right wing strut. It also took a chip of paint from the fuselage with it when it came loose from the hole. I seem to remember that this was a recurring problem with Falcon's Fi 156s, whether they fixed it on the later releases I don't know. They were willing to fix structural problems as they did with other toolings so it's possible.
I only bought one Fi 156 before abandoning the tooling as being a little too unrefined for my taste. However, after taking it out of the box just now to recall what was wrong with it, it has stayed out and does look quite nice on the shelf. It might persuade me to rethink my attitude towards it, that does happen from time to time with my unloved models stuck away at the back of a closet.
thanks for the input everyone. I looked at a few of ED's videos on here and a few did show the wing strut loose from fuselage. Been in contact with another seller and he has sent pics of his and the struts are perfect. So a new one is on the way and the damaged one unsure to do with. Maybe a crashed storch on the upcoming North Africa diorama??
